Dear New Orleans,
My name is David Hanson. I currently live in Flint, MI and I am trying to make contacts and connections with people and businesses in New Orleans because it is my plan to move there next summer. My late wife & I visited New Orleans last winter and the moment I set foot in the city I felt like I was home. I instantly fell in love with the city and sure, it was through the eyes of a tourist, but it has been almost a year later and I still can’t shake that feeling. I want to be back there so bad. It’s a yearning deep and true.
It’s a long story beforehand, but we had to move to Flint 4 years ago so my wife could get decent healthcare for her cancer. It was a long battle she lost five months ago, so now I am trying to rebuild my life. Desperately. I need to be somewhere were I want to be, working and enjoying my life again. I won’t deny this is a desperate move, but I feel deep in my bones New Orleans is where I need to be.
I am not asking for a hand out or a free ride, what I am asking for is options on places to move to, jobs that I can do, opportunities that may arise, opinions on how to best become part of the art scene, jobs that I may not be aware of through job sites, a suggestion, a thought, a friend, anyone that can help me to achieve this. Options on places to live and rent.
My plan is to work at the job I am at, and sell off alot of my stuff and make those connections over the rest of this year and the beginning of next year and hopefully by summer , or late summer of 2018, move to New Orleans.
I welcome any suggestions or ideas or anything from the people and businesses working there. I envy you and hope to hear from you.
-Thank you so much,
